- 4 tsp olive oil
- 2 lbs onions, thinly sliced
- 1 (32 oz) carton reduced-sodium beef broth
- 1 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 tsp ground pepper
- 4 (1 oz) slices French bread, toasted
- 1 cup shredded reduced-fat Swiss cheese

1. Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onions and cook, stirring frequently, until golden, about 15 minutes.
2. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 450. Place 4 ovenproof soup bowls on a baking sheet.
3. Bring the broth to a simmer in a large saucepan. Add the onions, worcestershire sauce, and pepper. Reduce the heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the onions are tender, about 15 minutes. Ladle the soup into the bowls; top each serving with 1 slice of bread and 1/4 cup of the cheese. Bake until the cheese melts, about 5 minutes, and serve at once.
