Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsifted all purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup light brown sugar, packed
  • ¼ tsp. nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • ½ cinnamon
  • ½ cup butter
  • 4 cups sliced fresh peaches (frozen works well when fresh are not available)
  • ½ lemon juiced
  • 2 T. water

Preparation

Step 1

Mix flour, sugars, nutmeg, salt and cinnamon. Mix in butter with a fork or fingers until coarse crumbs are formed. Put peaches in a 9 inch square pan or dish (shallow). Mix in lemon juice and water. Cover with crumb mixture and pat down so it sticks to the fruit. Cover and bake in a 350 degree oven for 15 minutes. Uncover and bake about 30 minutes longer.
