Ingredients

  • Syrup:

  • 8

    cups sugar

  • 2

    tablespoons mixed pickling spice

  • 5

    teaspoons salt

  • 4

    cups white vinegar

Directions

Wash whole cukes & peel silverskin onions. Put in crock. Pour fresh boiling water over cukes & onions for 4 days. On day 5 cut cukes to desired size. Pour syrup over cukes & let set for 2 days. Drain off syrup & reheat. Pack pickles in jars & pour hot syrup over them. Seal. For my batch that made 20 pints I needed 2 batches of syrup.
