Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 3 cups sugar
- 5 eggs
- 3 cups plain flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 (8 oz) carton sour cream
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 tsp vanilla

Preparation
Step 1
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Alternate adding flour mixture and sour cream to butter mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Add boiling water and vanilla. (Batter will be thin). Pour into a greased and floured 10" tube pan. Bake at 325 for 1 hour 20 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool in pan for 10 - 15 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely.
