Ingredients

  • Cream:
  • Pour 1 1/4 c. boiling water over 1 cup quick oats. Let stand 20 minutes.
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. sugar
  • Add:
  • 2 eggs and oatmeal mixture
  • 1 1/3 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Preparation

Step 1

Bake in greased 9x13" pan in 350° oven for 30-35 minutes. While cake is still warm, spread with frosting and broil for 5 minutes.

Frosting:

Bring to a boil:
6 Tbs. margarine
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. cream
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Pour over cake and sprinkle with:
1 c. flaked coconut
