OATMEAL CAKE

Ingredients
- Cream:
- Pour 1 1/4 c. boiling water over 1 cup quick oats. Let stand 20 minutes.
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 c. sugar
- Add:
- 2 eggs and oatmeal mixture
- 1 1/3 c. flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. salt

Preparation
Step 1
Bake in greased 9x13" pan in 350° oven for 30-35 minutes. While cake is still warm, spread with frosting and broil for 5 minutes.
Frosting:
Bring to a boil:
6 Tbs. margarine
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. cream
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Pour over cake and sprinkle with:
1 c. flaked coconut
