Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Gold petal dust (available at gourmet food stores)
- Vodka, optional

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 F. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugars until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat until smooth. In a medium bowl, sift together next 3 ingredients. Add to creamed mixture; knead until a soft dough forms. Press dough into a greased cookie mold, filling it evenly to top. Use a sharp knife to loosen edges of dough. Invert mold onto a greased baking sheet. Tap lightly to release dough. Repeat for remaining dough. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until edges of cookies are brown. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
To decorate cookies, use a small round paintbrush to brush petal dust onto cookies. If desired, mix petal dust with a few drops of vodka to form a thin paste and brush onto cookies; allow to dry. Store in an airtight container.
