Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. starter
  • 1 c. evaporated milk
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 1/4 c. dark brown sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 tsp. each salt & soda
  • 3 c. corn flakes, crushed
  • 3/4 c. chopped walnuts
  • 3/4 c. shredded coconut (optional)

Step 1

Stir starter, milk, and 1 1/2 c. flour together in a large bowl; set aside for 2 hours. Meanwhile cream butter with sugar; blend in egg and a mixture of 1/2 c. flour, salt and soda. Stir in cornflakes, walnuts, and coconut (if used). Blend both mixtures together. Drop batter from a teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet, placing mounds 2 inches apart. Bake in a moderately hot oven (375°) for 15 minutes.
