Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs. light raisins
  • 1 1/2 lbs. glace cherries
  • 1 c. mixed peel
  • 1 1/2 c. blanched almonds
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 c. granulated sugar
  • 4 beaten eggs
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. almond flavoring
  • 1 tsp. brandy flavoring
  • 1/4 c. fruite juice i.e. orange juice

Step 1

Prepare fruit and nuts. Raisins should be washed and dried. Cherries cut in half, peel should be chopped in small pieces and almonds slivered. Dredge with 1 c. flour. Cream butter, gradually add sugar and cream again. Add eggs. Sift and measure remaining flour with salt and baking powder. Add flour to butter and egg mixture, add flavorings. Add dredged fruit alternately with fruit juice. USE TWO LAYERS OF WAX PAPER TO LINE THE LOAF TINS. Bake at 275 - 300 F oven. When cool wrap tightly.
