Ingredients
- 2/3 C. butter or margarine
- 5 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate, cut into pieces
- 1 3/4 C. sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 3 lg. eggs
- 1 C. all-purpose flour
- 1 C. chopped walnuts
- chocolate buttercream frosting, if desired

Step 1
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom and sides of 9-inch square pan with shortening.
In 1-quart saucepan, melt butter and chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly. Cool 5 minutes.
In medium bowl, beat sugar, vanilla and eggs with electric mixer on high speed 5 minutes. Beat in chocolate mixture on low speed, scraping bowl occasionally. Beat in flour just until blended, scraping bowl occasionally. Stir in walnuts. Spread in ban.
