  • 2 squares (2-ounces) semisweet chocolate
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 or 3 eggs beaten
  • 1 9- inch unbaked pie crust

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Melt the chocolate and butter together in a heavy saucepan over low heat. Remove the pan from the heat and add the sugar, then the eggs; beat well. Pour the filling into the pie crust and bake for 25 minutes or until just set. Serve warm or cold, with ice cream or whipped cream.

My suggestion to the folks that aren't getting it to set up, it's very important when the recipe says, "beat well," you really need to use a hand held mixer and beat it for at least a minute, if not two, to get the best results. Also, preheating a cookie sheet and placing the pie on it helps the crust cook more thoroughly and not end up "doughy" in the center.

a layer of pecans on the crust before pouring the chocolate in the shell. Add 10 minutes to the baking time. This is yummy too!!
