Ingredients
- Sauce:
- 1 29 oz. [825 g.] can tomato puree
- 1 T. raspberry vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
- 1 T. soy sauce
- 1 T. Dijon mustard
- 1 T. hot sauce (like Sriracha)
- 4 T. molasses
- 1/2 jalepeno, thinly diced
- 1/2 red bell pepper, thinly diced
- "Meat":
- 1/2 T. raspberry vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
- 2 cloved minced garlic
- 1/2 small onion, chopped
- 14 oz package Smart Ground Original (1 lb Gimme Lean Ground Beef Style is also possible, but you will need to break up the "meat" while it cooks) [400 - 450 g. vegan meat substitute crumbles]
- Sides:
- Green beans or brussels sprouts
- Buns (or other soft, non-crusty rolls)
- White cheddar (optional)

Preparation
Step 1
1. Add sauce ingredients to large pot and simmer on the stove.
2. Saute garlic and onion in the 1/2 T. vinegar (in a different pan than the sauce) from the "meat" ingredients until soft.
3. Cook the "meat" in the onions and garlic, making sure it is broken up into small pieces.
4. Add the meat mixture to the sauce pot and simmer longer. The longer it cooks, the better it will be.
5. Serve on buns with green beans or brussels sprouts on the side.
