I wish I could give this recipe more stars. This is so simple but so delicious and such a crowd pleaser. I've always been hesitant to make trifles because they looked messy, but this actually looked beautiful with all the layers and the toffee on top. I added a bit of cool whip to the pudding mixture to thicken it up so it was more like a mousse. Next time I might add in some fresh raspberries and brush the cake with liqueur. Perfect for summer holidays and get togethers.
Love it. Always a hit with everybody!
I took the advice from another review and used Devil's food cake as well as I substituted Butterfinger for the candy - it was delicious! I think the cake is a bit wet with the pudding in a liquid state but my guests loved it. Next time I am going to letting the pudding thicken up a bit before adding it in.
I made this for Christmas Eve dessert and everyone loved it and it was so easy to make!!!
EASY!! This looked beautiful and got lots of compliments. The taste was exactly what you'd expect...nothing out of the ordinary but a good dessert when you don't want to invest much time or effort. I might try browines instead of cake next time or possibly switch up the candy bars. There are endless possibilities you could try.
Excellent flavor and easy to make even for this reluctant cook.
Everyone loved this and it's a great dessert for a crowd. Will definitely make it again, perhaps when I entertain for Christmas.
Made this over the weekend for a family gathering. Everyone absolutey loved it!! I used triple chocolate cake mix and butterfinger. Will definately make this again!
If you like chocolate, this recipe is for you! Devil's Food cake mix tastes the best. Next time, I will try crushed Oreos or Reeses instead of the toffee bar.
I love this recipe but I substitute Reese peanut butter cups for the candy bars listed. It is AWESOME!!! It is the talk of every party or function.
This is my husband's favorite dessert. I've made it lots of times and even substituted cherry pie filling for the chocolate pudding. I've also made it with mint chocolate chips instead of the toffee, and it gave it a cool, refreshing flavor.
Tastes as good as it looks....gone in minutes!!
Very easy to make and delicious! I got lots of compliments on this and can see making this many times.
Love it and so have all those who have tasted it. Good for a crowd, especially a party where each guest brings a dish. Looks fantastic.
This is one of my favorite desserts to make for a crowd.
I love making chocolate trifle! You can use peanut butter cups or crushed oreos instead of toffee bars--experiment and have fun. Sometimes I drizzle a bit of chocolate syrup or liqueur over the cake cubes before the pudding for added flavor.
