Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups warm water (105 - 115 degrees)
  • 1 tsp. active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 2 tbs. olive oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 cups flour, plus more for kneading

Preparation

Step 1

Stir water with yeast and sugar in a cup. Let stand 5 minutes until frothy. Stir in olive oil and salt.

Pour flour into a bowl and make well in the center, add the yeast mixture. Sitr ot incorporate, dough will be sticky.

Transfer dough to floured surface and nead until smooth. Shape dough into bowl. Pour 1 tsp. oil in a bowl and roll dough around so that the whole surface gets lightly oiled.

Cover bowl with a tea towel and let stand at room temperature until doubled in size, about 1 hour. Punch dough, reshape, recover and let stand 45 minutes.
