Ingredients
- Use good stew beef, better quality beef makes for very tough and chewy meat.
- 1 C flour
- S & P to taste
- 1-1 1/2 lbs stew beef cut into cubes
- Brandy
- Red wine
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 TBS thyme
- 3 TBS butter
- 1 sliced onion
- 1 can beef consomme soup (MUST be consomme)

Preparation
Step 1
Put flour, salt and pepper into small paper bag. Add beef cubes and shake to coat. Remove beef. Save remaining flour.
Brown beef in cooking oil in fry pan or dutch oven.
Add beef to dutch oven, addremaining flour, 1 cup Brandy, bay leaf, thyme, butter, onion and can of beef consomme.
Bake 325 for about 2 hours until meat is very tender and sauce is thick.
Add 1 cup red wine after about 1 hour of cooking.
