Ingredients

  • Melt over medium heat:
  • 3 tbs. butter
  • Add:
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • Cook, stirring until softened, about 5 minutes and add:
  • 2 large garlic cloves, finely minced
  • Cook, stir just until starting to color, about 1 minute. Stir in:
  • 1 28 oz. can plum tomatoes, lightly drained and chopped by hand
  • 1/4 ¼ cup vodka
  • 1/4 ¼ tsp. red pepper flakes
  • Simmer 10 minutes, stir in:
  • 1/2 ½ cup heavy cream
  • Heat through. Stir in:
  • 12 fresh basil leaves, optional
  • Salt and pepper
