  • 1/4 c. lukewarm water
  • 1-1/4 c. milk
  • 3 Tbls. sugar
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 4-1/2 to 5 c. flour

Step 1

Dissolve yeast in water. Heat milk, sugar, salt, and shortening in saucepan til sugar is dissolved. Cool enough that it is not too hot for yeast. Add yeast anf flour. Mix well. Cover and put in a warm place for 15 minutes. Roll on a floured board and cut in circles. Make a crease with a table knife in the middle of circle, dip in melted butter. Place on baking sheet and raise 15 minutes. Bake 10 minutes at 450. Brush the tops with melted butter when you take them out of the oven. Best buns you will ever make.
