  • 3 lbs. tart apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 tbs. lemon zest
  • 1 tbs. lemon juice
  • 1/4 ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 ½ tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 ½ cup flour
  • 1/2 ½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 ½ cup graham crumbs
  • 1/2 ½ cup butter
  • 1/3 cup chopped almonds

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place apples, rind, juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg in a plate and toss. Place the apple slices into a 9 inch deep dish pie plate, make certain the apples are level with the plate. Combine the flour, sugar, and crumbs with your fingers. Rub butter and crumb mix together until a coarse meal is achieves. Mix in nuts and sprinkle the mix over the apples, pressing down and covering the apple edges. Cook 45 minutes.
