Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs separated
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. halved glace cherries

Step 1

Sift flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg twice. Cream butter and sugar and add egg yolks and vanilla, beat until light and fluffy. Add 1 1/4 c. flour alternately with the milk. Gently fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Sprinkle half the remaining flour over batter, then sprinkle cherries on the the remaining flour. Fold gently until all is well blended. Bake in a well greased loaf pan at 350 F for 3/4 hour or until done.
