Preparation
Step 1
Add the above ingredients to a food processor.
Slice 1 1/2 sticks of cold butter and add to processor and pulse just until mixed. Pour all ingredients into a medium size bowl and stir in 3/4 cup cranberries and some orange zest. Add a total of 3/4 cup of Buttermilk. But do not add it all at one time. Add a little more than half and mix all together and then where it is dry add the rest of the buttermilk. Press and gather this till it holds together without overworking the dough. Placing this ball of dough onto a cookie sheet lined with wax paper make a disk about the size of a dinner plate. Cut into wedges and separate if you like the edges cooked. Dampen the tops of the scones with buttermilk and sprinkle with Turbinado or just regular sugar.
The recipe calls for cooking these for 30 minutes and 350.
These also taste great with bacon and cheese instead of fruit.
