Ingredients

  • 1 loaf raisin bread, cubed
  • 2 cans (385 ml) evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/3 cups brown sugar
  • raisins
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/8 - 1/4 cup whiskey or rum flavouring
  • Sauce
  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 3 Tbsp flour
  • pinch salt
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp rum flavouring or 1/4 cup whiskey or rum

Preparation

Step 1

Place bread in slow cooker. Pour milk over and let sit for 30 min. Combine all other ingredients. Pour over bread and stir. Cook 3 hours on low.

Sauce
Melt butter. Mix in flour and salt. Add water and stir until it thickens and boils. Add brown sugar and rum. Stir to dissolve. Makes about 2 cups.
