Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup cocoa
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup sour cream

Step 1

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In large mixing bowl, cream butter, sugar and vanilla. Beat in eggs.

In separate bowl, combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and baking soda. Blend flour mixture into butter mixture alternating with sour cream. Pour into greased 9-by-5-by-3-inch loaf pan. Bake 1 hour and 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pan; remove from pan and cool completely.
