Ingredients

  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil, crushed
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1-pound can (2 cups) tomatoes
  • 2 6-ounce cans tomato paste
  • 1 pound lasagna noodles, cooked and rinsed
  • 3 cups ricotta or creamy cottage cheese
  • 2 tablespoons dried parsley flakes
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Italian cheese
  • 1 pound mozzarella cheese

Preparation

Step 1

Brown and drain Italian sausage.

Add to beef and simmer: garlic, basil, salt, tomatoes and tomato paste.

Combine ricotta/cottage cheese, parsley flakes, eggs, salt, pepper and grated Italian cheese.

Spread 1/3 meat sauce in dish, 1/2 lasagna noodles, 1/2 ricotta mixture, 1/2 mozzarella cheese. Repeat, ending with meat sauce. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting.
