Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped pickled jalapeno chiles
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. chopped fresh sage or 2 tsp. dried rubbed sage
  • 3 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 2 15-ounce cans canellini (white kidney beans), drained
  • 1 3/4 cups canned crushed tomatoes with added puree

Step 1

Heat oil in heavy saucepan over medium heat. Add pickled jalapenos, sage, and garlic. Saute until garlic is tender but not brown, about 5 minutes. Add beans and tomatoes, simmer until mixture thickens and flavors blend, stirring occasionally, about 15 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Makes 4 servings.
