Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 2 lbs lean beef cubes
  • 2 tbsp flour (onion mushroom soup mix instead of mushrooms and flour)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp thyme
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 can mushrooms

Preparation

Step 1

1. Heat oil in a skillet. Brown meat on all sides. Heat oven to 325F. when meat is browned, stir in flour, salt, pepper and thyme mixing well with meat; scraping bottom of the pan. Mix beef broth and wine and pour over meat, making a gravy. Transfer to a 3qt casserole dish.

2. Place covered casserole in oven and bake about 2 hours. Add mushrooms and return to oven and bake for another 20 mins.
