Mocha Dot Cake

This was a recipe that mom made frequently when we were kids.
It was an old Ann Pillsbury cake that dated from the mid 1940's

Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups sifted flour
- 1/2 tsp double acting baking powder
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 tsp soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/3 cup buttermilk or sour milk
- 1/2 cup cooled coffee (strong)
- 1/3 cup buttermilk or sour milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix dry ingredients.
Add shortening, milk, coffee.
Beat for two minutes.
Add rest of milk, eggs, vanilla.
Beat for two more minutes
Pour into 2 - 8" layer cake pans
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
Frost with 7 minute Mocha frosting
