Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter
- 7 large eggs
- 2 cups milk (or eggnog)
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg, cinnamon, salt
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 French bread loaf cut in 1 inch slices
- Icing sugar

Preparation
Step 1
Pour melted butter into bottom of baking sheet to coat.
Beat next 7 ingredients well
Dip both sides of bread into egg mixture. Place on baking sheet. Pour any remaining mixture over slices. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Can be frozen at this stage. Uncover and bake - 450 - 20-25 minutes. Place on rack to cool. Dust with icing sugar and serve with maple syrup.
