- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
- 1 can (28 ounces of crushed tomatoes)
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt

Step 1
1. 3 quart saucepan, heat oil over medium heat; add oinon and garlic and cook, stirring, until onion is tender, about 5 minutes.
2. Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, and salt. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat; partially cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, until sauce has thickened slightly, about 20 minutes. Use to coat 1 pound of pasta.
