Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread, split lengthwise
  • 2 cups (500 mL) tomato-based pasta sauce, divided
  • 2 cups (500 mL) thinly sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1 cup (250 mL) sliced pepperoni
  • 2 cups (500 mL) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) oregano, crumbled
  • 1/4 tsp (1 mL) freshly ground pepper
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL) freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Step 1

Place bread halves on a jelly-roll pan. Pull out some of bread in centers to make bread halves slightly concave. Reserve bread pieces for another use. Spread each half with 1/2 cup (125 mL) pasta sauce. Layer each half with mushrooms, pepperoni and mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle each with oregano, pepper and Parmesan cheese. Drizzle remaining 1 cup (250 mL) pasta sauce over bread halves, using 1/2 cup (125 mL) sauce for each. Bake at 400°F (200°C) until pizzas are heated through and lightly browned, about 15-20 minutes. Slice and serve.
