Ingredients

  • Dressing:
  • 3 tbl. lime juice
  • 1/2 tbl. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 tsp. Thai fish sauce
  • 1 tsp. chile paste with garlic
  • Steak:
  • 1/2 lb. flank steak
  • 1 tsp. cracked black pepper
  • Salad:
  • mixed salad greens
  • 1/3 c. thinly sliced red cabbage
  • 1/3 c. fresh basil, chopped
  • 1/4 c. fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/4 c. thin julienne-cut carrot
  • 1 tbl. finely chopped dry roasted peanuts

Preparation

Step 1

Prepare dressing by combining ingredients and whisking together.

Rub steak with pepper. Broil 6 minutes on each side or until desired degree of doneness. Remove from pan; let stand 5 minutes. Cut diagonally across grain into thin slices. Place steak in a bowl; drizzle with half the dressing.

Combine salad ingredients. Drizzle with remaining dressing and toss well. Divide among 2 salad plates. Arrange steak evenly over salad. Sprinkle with peanuts.
