  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 pkg. yeast, dry
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Step 1

Dissolve yeast in water and set aside. Mix the dry ingredients in the order given, cutting in the shortening. Stir in the buttermilk and yeast mixture. Blend thoroughly. Refrigerate in a large covered bowl. Make biscuits when desired and let rise for a few minutes. Bake in 400 degree oven.
