Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup tahini (roasted sesame seeds)
  • 1 can (15 ounces) garbanzo beans, drained
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onion
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground pepper
  • 1 tbsp minced fresh parsley
  • Pita bread
  • Coconut, to serve
  • Chutney, to serve
  • Golden raisins, to serve
  • Toasted slivered almonds, to serve

Preparation

Step 1

Combine first eight ingredients in a blender or food processor and process until smooth. Pack mixture into a small bowl, cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving.

Preheat oven to 450 F. Separate pita rounds in half. Cut each circle into 8 wedges. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 5 to 8 minutes or until lightly browned and crisp. Serve sesame spread on pita chips. Top chips with coconut, chutney, almonds, and golden raisins.
