Ingredients

  • Stew:
  • 1 lb beef, cut into 2" cubes
  • 1 (10 oz) can French onion soup, undiluted
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup, undilutes
  • Cornbread:
  • 1 cup corn meal
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup shortening

Preparation

Step 1

Stew:
Mix ingredients together in casserole dish and bake at 250 uncovered for 3 hours. Do not brown meat before adding other ingredients. Serve over rice, noodles or corn bread.

Cornbread:
Sift together dry ingredients. Add egg, milk and shortening. Stir until smooth. Do not over mix. Bake in greased 8" square pan or muffin pans at 425 for 20-25 minutes.
