  • ¾ cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ tsp. vanilla
  • 2 ½ cups flour
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • ¾ tsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 cup hazelnuts

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs and the vanilla. Sift together the flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt, and mix into the egg mixture. Stir in the nuts. Shape dough into 2 equal logs about 12 inch long and flatten to ½ inch thickness. Bake 30 minutes, until edges are golden and centre is firm.

When loaves are cook enough to handle, slice with a serrated knife into ½ inch thick slices. Bake 10 minutes, turning once.
