Ingredients

  • 5 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 pkg dry yeast
  • 4 tablespoon warm water
  • 2 cups fresh buttermilk
  • melted butter

Preparation

Step 1

Sift dry ingredients; cut shortening in with pastry blender. Dissolve yeast in warm water; add to dry ingredients with buttermilk. Mix well.
Roll out 1/4" thick, cut with round biscuit cutter.
Dip in melted butter; fold in half. Bake at 400 for 15 minutes.
These will keep well in refrigerator. May be frozen.
When ready to bake, remove from freezer and place in oven without thawing or rising.
