Ingredients

  • 1 15-oz can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/4 - 1/2 water. How much liquid you need depends on the amount of moisture in the beans. Start with the smaller amount.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup Tahini
  • 2 Tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp ground cumin seed
  • 1 large garlic cloves, crushed OR
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced, OR a pinch of dried cayenne powder (Optional)

  • Chopped parsley
  • Paprika

Preparation

Step 1

In food processor, combine all ingredients. Transfer to a bowl, cover and refigerate if not using immediately. Just before serving, top with chopped parsley and a dusting of paprika. Serve with pita bread wedges.
