Ingredients

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 c molasses

  • 2/3 c boiling water

  • 3/4 t salt

  • 1/2 t baking powder

  • 1/2 t ginger

  • 1/4 t cloves

  • 1/2 t cinnamon

  • 1 t baking soda

  • 2 1/2 c flour

Directions

Beat eggs. Mix in molasses. Sift all dry ingredients together. Melt shortening (not butter) in boiling water. Add dry ingredients to egg mix. Add melted shortening last. Grese and flour 8 x 8" pan. 350' oven
