Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Remove crusts from bread and cut into 1 inch cubes.
Melt cheese and margarine in double boiler, stirring until thick and creamy. (When I did it the margarine and cheese separated so I got out my hand mixer and mixed it up till it was thick and creamy)
Remove from heat.
Beat egg whites until stiff.
Add cheese mixture to egg
Dip bread cubes into mixture and dry on wax paper-linded baking sheets.
If the mixture is too thick for dipping I added a little milk to thin it. I don't think it made a difference in the taste.
Place sheets in freezer and freeze for 30 minutes (cubes can then be put in freezer bags and stored in freezer up to 1 month)
When ready to use, place frozen cubes on baking sheets, let thaw 30 minutes.
Bake 5-10 minutes until very lightly browned.
