Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb ground pork (optional)

  • 1/2 cup diced mushrooms

  • 3 sliced choppd bacon

  • 1 t. salt

  • 1- 2 1/2 lb cn Italian style peeled tomatoes

  • 1/2 t. black pepper

  • 1 lb. ground beef

  • 1 T. sherry wine (optional)

  • 1/4 c. olive oil (optional)

  • 3 - 10 ounce pkg Mostaccioli

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 1 - 6 oz can tomato paste

  • 1 can water

  • 1 bay leaf

  • 1/2 t. dried basil

  • Parmesan cheese

Directions

MIx ground beef, pork, and part onion. Heat bacon, add meat, remaining onion and diced mushrooms, stirring constantly until well browned. Add tomatoes, bay leaf, and basil. Season to taste with salt and pepper and simmer for 1 hour. If sauce becomes too thick, add water. Add tomato paste, a can of water, and sherry wine and simmer another 15 minutes. Remove bay leaf. Pour sauce over cooked and drained mostaccioli and top with parmesan cheese.
