Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups cake flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, room temp
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/3 cup Dutch cocoa
  • 1/4 cup boiling water.

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350. Line muffin tin with paper liners. Whisk together cake flour, baking powder, and salt. Combine milk and cream.
With a mixer, cream butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Beat in vanilla. Add flour mix in three batches, alternating with milk, beat well.
Measure out 1 cup batter, transfer to another bowl. Combine cocoa and boiling water, stir into batter.
Scoop alternating vanilla and chocolate into cups, fill 3/4 full. With a skewer, swirl through batter to mix flavors.
Bake, 15-18 minutes.
