Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 lb Italian sausage

  • 2 large cans Italian style peeled tomatos or tomato puree

  • 4 8oz. cans tomato sauce

  • 2t salt

  • 3t dried oregano

  • 1/2 cup minced onion

  • 4 cloves minced garlic

  • 1/3 cup olive oil

  • 1 box lasagne noodles

  • 3/4lb ricotta cheese

  • 4 cups mozzarella or Italian blend cheese

  • 1/2 lb parmesan cheese

Directions

Brown and drain ground beef and sausage, set aside. In a large sauce pan simmer olive oil, onion and garlic until golden. Add tomatos, tomato sauce, meat mixture, oregano and salt. Let simmer at least an hour. Prepare noodles according to package directions. Build Lasagne in 13X9 baking pan Put a thin layer of sauce in bottom of baking dish then add a layer of noodles. Spread ricotta cheese over noodles, then cover with mozzarella and parmesan cheeses and cover with sauce. Repeat 2 times, cover dish with sauce and cheese then bake at 350 about 40 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. VARIATIONS: Mushroom can be added to sauce. More oregano or basil can be used to season sauce. Thin sliced hard boiled egg and be added to layers of lasagne.
