Ingredients

  • 5 5 1 1/2-inch spareribs, cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces
  • 2 2 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 1 1 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 1/2 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 3 3 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 1 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 1 1 large green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 1 1 can (20 oz) pineapple chunks, including liquid
  • 3 3 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 1/2 2 1/2 1/2 tablespoons water

Preparation

Step 1

In a large saucepot, combine spareribs, brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, and garlic. Cover and bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for 45 minutes. Add onion, bell pepper, and pineapple. Continue cooking for 15 more minutes.

Combine cornstarch and water; stir into sparerib mixture. Cook until mixture thickens.

Makes 8 servings.
