Ingredients

  • 2 tbs. oil
  • 3 lb. sirloin tip roast
  • 5 onions peeled, cut into 4 pieces
  • 2 cups dry red wine
  • 2 cups tomato sauce, heated
  • 1 garlic clove, smashed and chopped
  • ½ tsp. thyme
  • ½ tsp. basil
  • ½ tsp. allspice
  • Salt and pepper

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Heat oil in large ovenproof casserole dish; seer beef 6 – 8 minutes over medium high heat and season well. Add onions and continue cooking 6-8 minutes over medium high heat. Pour in the wine and tomato sauce; add the garlic and seasonings and bring to a boil.

Cover and cook 2 ½ hours in the oven. Serve with additional vegetables if desired.
