Ingredients
- This is a delicious, spicy cake full of healthy ingredients. A great addition to any meal, for breakfast, or as a nutritious snack.
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup bran
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 cup and two tablespoons of honey
- 1/2 cup soft butter
- 1 cup water
- 1 1/2 cups chopped dates
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/8 teaspoon cloves

Preparation
Step 1
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Butter an 8" x 8" baking pan.
Mix together the flour, oats, bran, and baking soda. Cut in the butter blending until crumbly. Stir in the 1/4 cup honey. Combine well, and press half of this mixture into the buttered pan.
In a small saucepan boil the chopped dates, 2 tablespoons honey, and water for 5 minutes.
To the date mixture add the nuts, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Cool slightly and spread over the crumb mixture. On top of this spread the other half of the crumb mixture.
Bake for approximately 40 minutes. Cool. Enjoy!
