Grandma Van Duren's Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

Ingredients

• 1/2 C Shortening
• 2 tsp Vanilla
• 2 1oz Unsweetened Chocolate Squares, melted
• 2 tsp Baking Powder
• 1/3 C Milk
• 1 2/3 C Sugar
• 2 Eggs
• 2 C Sifted Flour
• 1/2 tsp Salt
• 1/2 C Chopped Nuts (optional)
• Sifted Confectioners Sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350

Thoroughly cream together shortening, sugar and vanilla. Beat in eggs then chocolate.

Sift dry ingredients together; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, blending well after each addition. Stir in nuts.

Chill dough 2-3 hours.

Form in balls. Roll in confectioners sugar. Place on greased baking sheet 2-3" apart.

Bake about 15 minutes.
