  • 5 eggs
  • 2 ½ cups sugar
  • 5 oz. unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 ¾ cups milk
  • ¾ cup butter
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 cups sifted cake flour

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Combine 1 egg, 1 cup sugar, chocolate and ¾ cup milk into a pan. Cook mixture over low heat until the chocolate melts and mix thickens slightly. Do not boil the mixture. Cream the butter with the remaining sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and mix. Add the remaining eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the baking soda, salt, and flour together and then add to the butter mixture alternately with the remaining milk. Blend in the chocolate mix. Pour into the prepared pan.
