Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb (2 sticks) butter - melted and cooled
  • 4 extra large eggs
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. cocoa powder
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 vanilla bean - seeds scrapped
  • 1 T. framboise liqueur (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

1. Preheat oven to 325
2. grease a 2 quart (9 x 12 x 2 inch) oval baking dish
3. beat the eggs and sugar on medium for 5 to 10 minutes - until thick and light yellow
4. sift cocoa and flour in another bowl
5. add vanilla seeds, alcohol and cocoa powder on low - mix to just combined - add cooled melted butter mix until just combined
6. pour the mixture into the pan and place in a larger baking pan - add hot tap water up to half way up the side and bake for 1 hour. A cake tester 2 inches from the side will come out 3/4 clean and the center will look under baked.
