Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless , skinless chicken breast
  • 4 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sake, chinese rice wine or dry sherry
  • 2 tsp gingerroot grated
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 five spice powder
  • pinch cayenne pepper
  • 1 sweet red, green or yellow (or 1 zuchini) sliced
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds

Preparation

Step 1

Cut chicken into 3/4 inch cubes. In glass bowl, toss chicken, 1 tsp of the oil, the soy sauce, sake, ginger, garlic, 5 spice pwd and cayenne.
Cover and marinate for 1 hour ( can refrigerate up to 4 hrs)
Cut red pepper into 3/4 inch chunks. Reserving marinade, thread 1 chicken cube and 1 pepper chunk onto each skewer. Brush with marinade; sprinkle sesame seeds over top.
Place skewer under broiler or on grease grill over med/high heat for 4 minutes. Brush with half of the remaining oil. Cook until chicken is no longer pink inside, about 4 minutes.
