Ingredients
- Dough
- 2 1/8 cup flour + extra for dusting
- ¾ cup plus
- 2 Tbsp warm water
- 2 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 envelopes dry yeast
- Pizza Sauce
- 1 med onion
- 2 large garlic cloves minced
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- ½ cup fresh basil or 1 Tbsp dried basil
- 1 28 oz can diced tomatoes
- 1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
- ½ cup red wine (optional)
- ¼ cup tomato paste
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- Salt and pepper

Preparation
Step 1
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Combine salt, sugar, yeast and ¾ cup water and mix. Add flour and stir with a spoon, do not over mix. Place in a greased bowl and let rise until doubled in size (about 4 hours). Punch dough down, cover with plastic wrap and hold in refrigerator overnight to rise again. Remove dough 30 minutes prior to forming crust.
Heat olive oil and cook onions. Add garlic cook 3-4 additional minutes. Add all remaining ingredients. Simmer on low for 4-6 hours.
