Sandwich: Slow-Simmering Barbecue Sandwiches 1 Picture

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 3lb beef brisket
  • 3 Tbsp vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 3 cups barbecue sauce
  • 12-16 Kaiser rolls or hamburger buns

Servings 12

Step 1

1. Trim fat from brisket. Cut the brisket, if necessary, to fit in a 3-4 quart crockery cooker. Add water, vinegar, worcestershire sauce, and cumin. Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 10-12 hours or high heat for 4-5 hours.

2. About 1 hour before serving, remove the meat from the cooker. Discard cooking liquid. Using two forks to pull, shred meat and return it to the cooker. Stir in barbecue sauce. Cover and cook on high heat for 30-45 minutes. Serve on kaiser rolls with pickles and onions.
