- 1 cup butter or shortening
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cream of tartar
- Water
- Sugar

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 375.
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat well.
Combine flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar; add to creamed mixture.
Roll into small 1/2 inch sized balls. Dip into water and roll top half of ball in sugar.
Place on greased cookie sheet, sugar side up.
Bake for 10 - 12 minutes.
